Friendship is a gift from God to us.. Without friends, life is a boring and lonely road. But not all friendships are worth our time; some are worth dying for, and others only lead to disappointment, regret, and heartbreak.
But how do you know which friendships to keep and which to leave?
This can seem scary to some and unnecessary to others, especially if you consider yourself friendly and don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. But at some point you have to be honest with yourself, look at your friendships and decide whether to pursue them or let them go.
you will save yourself from manyMatter If you're making this decision quickly, how do you know for sure which relationships are worth nurturing and which are worth leaving? Learning to recognize toxic friendships is an important part of your own well-being.
According to the following verses, true friends possess the following fifteen qualities:
- Affectionate
- Respectful
- positive influence
- Conciliator
- Reliable
- ready to make sacrifices
- Fell
- inspiring
- exercise self control
- Surveillance
- support
- impartial
- reliable
- cooperative
- practice wisdom
But finding out who your real friends are can still be challenging.
Fortunately, the Bible has the answers, so here are fifteen Bible verses on friendship that highlight fourteen qualities that make a good friendship.
Proverbs 17:17
He loves his friend at all times, and in adversity a brother is born."
True friends love you all the time.. Love is a language of the soul, it moves, encourages and makes friendships meaningful and fun. But loving friendships are rare gems. These priceless treasures are longed for by many, but friendships without love end up being like ships without sails and tunnels without light.
Love is the glue that keeps friendships strong, even in difficult and uncertain times, but not all friends are loving. Some friends only stay when you're okay. They will say the right words at the right time and show you the qualities of a loving friend, but as soon as you face hard times and fail to meet their demands and expectations, their love will become a distant memory.
This Scripture implies that love is a quality of a good friend, and a good friend will love you at any time and in any situation, good or bad. Good friends don't look for opportunities to apologize, to express their love for you, they look for opportunities to express their love for you even more.
What does the Bible say about dogs (man's best friend)?
Take a look at your friends and analyze their actions. If you think one of your friends might be toxic, test their love and loyalty over time by doing the following:
- Stop buying groceries for them.
- Stop buying them gifts.
- Stop dating them.
- Stop lending them money.
- Stop liking and commenting on their social media pages.
- Stop taking them to work, to school, to the movies, etc.
- Stop answering his calls.
- Stop replying to their messages.
Love will stand the test of time and many tests; therefore, if they are truly loving and loyal friends, they will not be offended for long. Instead, they will look for ways to express their love and maintain the friendship.
Observation:This is a risky strategy and should only be used with friends who have demonstrated toxic tendencies.

1 Samuel 18:1 Reina Valera 1960 Bible
And it came to pass that when he had finished speaking with Saul, Jonathan's soul was united with David's, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. And Saul took him that day and did not let him go to his father's house. So Jonathan and David made a covenant because he loved him as his own soul.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 English Standard Version
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; not overbearing or rude. He does not follow his own path; he is not irritable or resentful; he does not rejoice in injustice, but he rejoices in the truth. Love supports everything, believes everything, expects everything, supports everything.
Romans 12:9-10 English Standard Version

Felipe. 2:3
“Don't do anything out of selfish ambition or vanity. Humbly appreciate others, not yourself.”
good friends respect you. Do your friends ignore your feelings and treat them like they don't matter? If you answer yes to this question, it is very likely that your friends do not respect you.
You should never lower your standards to accommodate disrespectful friends. Respect is one of the pillars of a good friendship. So if your friendships are not respected, it might be time to find a solution or just say goodbye to that friendship.
1 Corinthians 15:33
Make no mistake: "Bad company spoils good character.
Good friends leave a positive impact.Maintaining a bad lifestyle is a constant struggle, but when we invite bad influences into your life: It makes things much more difficult. In general, we are influenced by the people around us; Whether they are our childhood heroes, our favorite preachers, or our beloved role models, in many ways we are products of our environment. And based on this verse, it is clear that God has this view.
It is God's will that you allow only your friends to positively influence the important areas of your life. This verse warns us not to naively think that we are strong enough to resist the bad habits of our friends. God expects us to protect our space and filter out any toxins that might interfere with our healthy lifestyle.
Perhaps you have friends who influence you negatively. What can you do? Terminate connections immediately? Continue these friendships? These are questions that require answers. And based on this verse "You can trust a friend to correct you, but an enemy's kisses are only lies" (Proverbs 27:6 Contemporary English Version) you should speak to these friends: with love and correct them. It can be painful for them to admit their toxic behavior, but if they are truly God-sent friends; They will change their poisonous ways. But if they refuse to try to change their toxic behaviors, it's a clear sign to let go.
Good friends are those who positively influence you: They lead by example: They are aware of the fact that you let them into your space: and they do their best to influence you on the path of righteousness.
colossus 3:13
“Be patient and forgive each other if any of you hold a grudge against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you."
Good friends always forgive.TRUEsorryIt comes from the heart. A friend can say that he has forgiven you, but if it doesn't come from the heart, it means nothing.
It's no fun hanging out with unforgiving friends. They are cold and always find something negative to say. They are quick to judge and never miss an opportunity to point out our mistakes and criticize us for them.
good friendships motivateuplifting and inspiring. It is worth giving up friendships without forgiveness.

Colossians 3:12-14 English Standard Version

And above all, trust in love, which keeps everything in perfect harmony.
proverbs. 18:24
"There are 'friends' who destroy each other, but a true friend is closer than a brother."
True friends are supportive and trustworthy. There is a well-known proverb that says: "Blood is thicker than water." But this Bible verse shows that good friendships create bonds that are even deeper than blood relations.
Good friends stay with us long enough to know when it's us.sad, broken and frustrated. They also know when we are happy and full of joy. Loyal friends are always by our side. They always support our important efforts, kindly correct us when we're wrong, and praise us for our achievements.
Friends with these traits are worth their weight in gold, but unstable friends are "bitter on the tongue."

Luke 11:5-8 New International Version
Then Jesus said to them: “Suppose you have a friend and you go to him at midnight and say: 'Friend, lend me three loaves; A friend of mine came to see me on a trip and I have nothing to offer him to eat”. And suppose the insider answers: “Don't bother me. The door is already closed and my children and I are in bed. I can't get up and give you anything." I tell you, while he will not rise up and give you bread out of friendship, surely because of your shameless audacity he will rise up and give you everything you need. . "
Proverbs 25:13 The Message
Trustworthy friends who do what they say are like cold drinks in sweltering heat—refreshing!
Juan 15:13
"Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends."
Good friends sacrifice themselves for you.Jesus is the ultimate example of a friend, a good friend, and his statement, "Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends" is a true reflection of what he means by a good friendship. Sacrifice is a fundamental quality of a good friendship. In (1 Samuel 18:4) the example of friendship between Jonathan and David confirms what Jesus said in (John 15:13). If you read the first verse of 1 Samuel 18, you will find that Jonathan loved David and accepted him as a friend. Jonathan was the king's son, but the king did not like David and he wanted to kill him. But Jonathan, knowing his father's plan, risked his life to help David.
Jonathan's act of sacrifice showed his commitment to David and their friendship. He did not hesitate to give David his own clothes. And luckily he did, because David was still not recognized in all of Israel and he desperately needed help.
What are friendships without victims? Friendships without sacrifice are friendships without obligations. Needless to say, these friendships don't last long. If your friendships lack commitment and your friends aren't interested in making the necessary sacrifices, it might be time to leave.

"This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. There is no greater love than this: to give your life for your friends."
1 John 3:16-18 New International Version
This is how we recognize what love is: Jesus Christ gave his life for us. And we must lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If someone has material goods and sees a brother or sister in need but has no compassion for them, how can God's love be in that person? Dear children, let us not love in word or word, but with deeds and in truth.
1 Samuel 30:26 New International Version
When David came to Ziklag, he sent part of the spoils to the elders of Judah, who were his friends, and said to them, 'Here is a present for you from the spoils of the enemies of the Lord.'
proverbs. 16:28
"A pervert causes conflict and gossip separates close friends."
Honest friends don't gossip.Experience shows that there is nothing worse in a friendship than a friend who gossips about you. This verse shows that even in the best of friendships, gossip hurts and causes separation.
Good friends don't gossip. Instead, they just talk about facts, theypray for you when you're down, and when they're not sure about a problem, they find out the truth. Also, if you don't feel comfortable with them sharing their business, shut up.
If your friend is a gossip, chances are your friendship will end in disappointment and regret. Don't let gossip ruin your friendships; tackle them before it's too late.

2 Kings 2:2 New International Version:
When the Lord was about to take Elijah to heaven in a whirlwind, Elijah and Elisha came from Gilgal. Elijah told Elisha: “Stay here; the Lord has sent me to Bethel.”

Proverbs 27:17
"As iron sharpens iron, so one friend sharpens another."
Commendable friends instill in you strong values. There's an old saying, "You know your friends," and this verse reinforces that same wisdom. This verse not only reinforces that saying, but more importantly, it points out that just as true friendships bring out the best in you, bad friendships spoil good morals.
Virtuous friends do not inspire corruption in you, they instill in you healthy values. They set commendable examples which, if followed, will bring blessing and honor instead of shame and disgrace. If your friends aren't inspiring and challenging you to set high standards, it might be time to leave those friendships.

Proverbs 22:24-25
“Don't make friends with an angry man; and you must not go with an angry man, lest you learn his ways and set a snare for your soul.
Good friends exercise self-control.Friends who are compulsively moody are never far from trouble. Grumpy friends always seem to invite trouble. Enjoying a carefree moment with grumpy friends is almost impossible, it's like swimming with sharks, you're always nervous, afraid of what might happen next.
The same goes for friends who get angry quickly and easily. This Scripture warns us to stay away from such friends. But if you think there is hope for your grumpy friends, cheer them up and pray for them. You can even ask for professional help with the approval of your friends.
Friends who are willing to change their toxic behaviors are worth fighting for, but be careful with friends who have no intention of changing their toxic behaviors—if you're not careful, they can kill you with their toxic behaviors.
Proverbs 12:26
"The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the path of the wicked leads them astray."
Good friends are alert.Friendship is God's gift to us, but He doesn't approve of all friendships. Good friends are friends who understand the nature of friendship and do their best to appreciate friendship as a gift from God. They are not careless in choosing their friends, but when they find a friend they are careful not to offend him.

Galatians. 6:2
„Bear one another's burdens and thus fulfill the law of Christ."
Loyal friends accept our shortcomings and support us.Most friendships have their share of problems, but that's not a valid excuse to say goodbye.
Sometimes friends need to go through uncertain times together to understand each other better. Relationships with initial obstacles often end up as lifelong friendships. So be patient and be patient and find solutions to bring out the best in your friends.
More Bible Verses about Support
Job 2:11 New International Version
When Job's three friends, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Sufi, and Zophar the Namatite, learned of all the trouble that had befallen him, they left their homes and gathered to sympathize with him andKompforthe.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 New International Version
So encourage and build each other up like you really do.
Jaime. 4:11
“Brothers and sisters, do not slander each other. Anyone who speaks against or judges a brother or sister speaks against and judges the law. When you judge the law, you do not keep it, but you judge."
Good friends don't judge. This Bible verse says that brothers and sisters should not judge each other. If they do, they are breaking God's liberal law. “Sister” and “brother” here mean someone close to you, in this case your friends. Good friends don't make snap judgments; They will listen to what you have to say first.
Are your friends very critical of you? Do you always find something bad to say? Do they downplay the positives or completely ignore them and make a fuss about pointing out the negatives? If these traits describe your friends, it's a sign to consider before continuing those friendships.
Good friends don't judge you. Instead, they support you and correct you when necessary, in a spirit of love and humility.
More Bible verses on acceptance
1 Corinthians 4:2-4 English Standard Version
Furthermore, stewards are required to be considered faithful. But to me, being judged by you or by a human court is a very small matter. Actually, I'm not even judging myself, because I don't know anything against me, but I'm not acquitted for that. It is the Lord who judges me.
Romans 14:13 English Standard Version
So let's stop judging each other and be determined to never put obstacles or obstacles in the path of a brother.
Salmo. 37:3
“Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell on the land and enjoy safe pastures.”
Good friendships are built on trust. While this Bible verse does not specifically emphasize trust in our friends, it does point to trust in our friendship with God. God is our greatest example, so it's safe to emulate his example of trust in friendship and apply it in our friendships with others.
That said, the implication here is that friends need to have trust, and that trust breeds trust: trust in your friends' abilities, in their words, and in everything they do. If there is a lack of trust in your friends, find ways to foster it. No good friendship can exist without trust, so do what you can to foster it.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
“Two are better than one, because they have a good salary for their work; If someone falls, your friend can help you. But have pity on the man who falls and has no one to pick him up."
Loyal friends are cooperative.Support is one thing, cooperation is another. It's common in most friendships for friends to offer moral support, but watching a friend get dirty to bail out is a memory.
This scripture about friendship is a good example of working together in friendship. A friend who loves to help out with anything, is someone to be held in high esteem and cherish.
Proverbs 13:20
"Walk with the wise and become wise, for the companion of fools suffers harm."
Good friends exercise wisdom. The idea behind this passage is not to indiscriminately distance yourself from friends you feel lack wisdom, but to observe their behavior over time. Did they learn from their experiences that they nearly ruined their friendship and put their lives in danger? Are they taking active steps to cultivate healthy values in their lives? If you answer yes to these questions, you have a good reason to continue these friendships, but if not, stop wasting your valuable time.
